Award Free Blog

Hear ye, hear ye!

As of May 2012, AuthorAlden.com is henceforth an "award free" blog. I am truly flattered that anyone might think this blog worthy of recognition. I remain grateful for every nod I've been given, but I must decline any future awards. Your readership is reward enough.

There are a few reasons for this, but the shortest answer is that I'm not comfortable adhering to the requirements of most blog awards. Most dictate that you must pass the award on in order to accept. While I follow many awesome blogs that are deserving of such recognition, there are more than a few people in the blogosphere who view these kinds of awards with disdain.

You see, to some folks, these blog awards resemble chain letters. And nobody likes chain letters. While you and I might understand that these awards are coming from a good place, a way to share your favorite blogs with your readers, some people just don't see it that way. And the last thing I want to do is make anyone uncomfortable, good intentions or not.

Therefor, since I can't in good conscience adhere to the spirit of these awards (paying it forward), it would be unfair to accept them at all. Hence, award free blog.

I would, however, like to extend my thanks to those who've given me the following awards in the past:

The Liebster Award was given to me by the always awesome Randi Lee.

Randicop also saw fit to grant me the Kreativ Blogger Award.

The Versatile Blogger Award was bestowed by dual purveyors of awesomeness,
Veronica Sicoe and Rafael R. PiƱero.

The Sunshine Award was conjured by the combined powers of Paige Lollie and Charity Faye.

  1. Hello! I am currently researching the many blog awards for a special page on my blog www.empoweredresults.org. I love this idea! If you don't mind, I would like to add you badge to my special page to give bloggists to opt out of receiving awards.

Looking forward to reading more of your posts!

    Best regards!

    1. Sure! A link to my blog would be appreciated if it's feasible for your page, but I don't mind you using my badge either way. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Hi :)
My name is Tina, and I run the blog, diynailartdesign.com. I have, too, chosen to be an award free blog. I hope you don't mind if I used your badge/button. I have linked it back to you in both places where it's mentioned on my blog. I just wanted to let you know and say thank you for creating a button :)

  6. Hi J. W. I feel exactly the same about these awards. I know they were given to me with best of intentions, however I feel uncomfortable choosing next blogs to pass the award to and life is so busy for me at the moment (baby and everything) I just don't have time to reply to all of these lovely awards. Thanks for creating the badge, hope you don't mind me using it. I linked back to your blog. Have a fab Sunday!

  8. May I use your image as well? I'd like to blog about this, add the link to your post, and use the image as a widget in my sidebar.

  10. Love your rational explanation for not accepting awards. I always feel uncomfortable saying no, thank you, and you have hit the nail on the proberbial head! I have also used your badge in my sidebar with a link to this post. I hope that is acceptable. If not please let me know and I will remove it.
    All the best,
    Jude
